It’s time the media houses in the country must rise up and send a strong signal to the government and the security institutions, such as the police and the national security, to advise the political thugs to desist from this brutality being met to media houses and journalists in the country.
The Afro-barometer on the rating of Ghanaian media has gone low under the leadership New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the past seven years. Mr. Ivan Kyei Innocent, Researcher and Social Activists made this statement on the Simpieso political show on Ahotor FM 92.3 in Accra.
Mr. Ivan Kyei Innocent called on the police to up their game to work in executing their duty to cause arrest where unreserved comments have been spewed from some party political leaders who are been protected at the seat of government.
He is of the view that the political violence within the NPP is an enterprise to intimidate and fight their way out in the media space with this strategy to control the media for speaking the truth and ills against the government.
Concerning the challenges and allegations of family and friends by Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, claims of illegal mining by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have compromised the integrity of the government in fighting corruption at the seat of government.
He reiterated that it’s very unfortunate for the Attorney General to throw away Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng’s report, which is just one of the strategies by the legal team of the government to protect high-profile political office holders whose names have been mentioned in the report.
He further called on the citizenry to rise up and fight against social vices, such as corruption, impunity, and abuse of human rights which is on the increase.
The allegation of selling of state lands and national assets to cronies and friends of the government is very regrettable and bizarre. This he said has become a growing culture among the political class who are in charge of the government; stealing from the state with impunity.
