(AUDIO): Liars will not go to heaven; Akufo-Addo needs to stop lying if he wants to make it to heaven – John Mahama

John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has strongly criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo over his recent remarks questioning the NDC’s ability to manage a 24-hour economy, citing the energy challenges during their tenure in 2016.

John Mahama, speaking at Ellembelle during his Western Regional tour, responded by rejecting the President’s claims and urging him to stop spreading falsehoods.

He took particular issue with Akufo-Addo’s assertion that the NDC had failed to keep the lights on in 2016 and, as a result, could not manage a 24-hour economy.

He reminded the President of the wisdom in Proverbs 19:9, which warns that “liars will not go to heaven.” “President Akufo-Addo needs to stop lying if he wants to make it to heaven,” Mr. Mahama said.

“To claim that ‘dumsor’ was not solved in 2016 is a blatant lie. By the time we left office, the power crisis was resolved, and there was no load-shedding in 2016.”

The former President further dismissed the NPP’s narrative of ongoing energy instability under the NDC, emphasizing that during the final years of his administration, Ghana had successfully tackled the energy crisis.

“When they tell lies, they should leave it to the younger ones. But for Nana Akufo-Addo, to say that ‘dumsor’ was not fixed before we left office is a lie,” Mr. Mahama stated. “In 2016, power supply was stable, and no one experienced load-shedding.”

John Mahama also pointed out that unlike the current administration, which frequently blames external factors like the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war for the country’s economic difficulties, he took full responsibility for solving the energy crisis when he was in office.

“I didn’t shift blame like President Akufo-Addo does. I promised to fix the ‘dumsor’ issue, and I did,” Mr. Mahama asserted.

He urged President Akufo-Addo, at his age, to focus on living truthfully and preparing for the afterlife, rather than engaging in deceitful rhetoric.

“At his age, he should be preparing his soul for heaven. Lying will not get him there,” John Mahama added.

Confident in the NDC’s prospects in the upcoming December elections, John Mahama called on Ghanaians to remain vigilant and avoid repeating the mistake of voting for the NPP, which he claimed had mismanaged the country’s economy and misled the people.
