Ghanaian actor Nana Yeboah recently recounted a terrifying incident where a close friend attempted to poison him in his own home.
The Kumawood star revealed that this friend, who often visited him, spiked a box of juice with poison. In an interview with Emelia Brobbey, Yeboah shared how he was almost about to drink the poisonous concoction. He expressed that if it weren’t for a stroke of luck, he might not be alive today.
He described the distressing event: “One day, my friend came over, and I offered him some drinks. I had both Malt and Fru Telli juice available. He went into one of my rooms where I kept my beverages. He grabbed a few drinks, opened one, and added a suspicious substance to it. I didn’t notice anything odd at the time and even asked him if he wanted more, which he refused, saying he was fine before leaving.”
He continued, “I insisted on giving him some of the drinks I sell that were nearing their expiry date. I poured myself a drink and immediately saw that it was foaming and the box was swelling. That’s when I realized something was wrong and disposed of it.” Yeboah, who is known for his candid demeanor, wasted no time in confronting the friend after realizing the drink was tainted.
He emphasized that this friend was the only one who frequented his home, as his partner and children live in Obuasi. “I pondered who would want to harm me, and the only person that came to mind was my friend. I called him to ask if someone had sent him to kill me. I told him to inform whoever plotted this that their scheme had failed. He was speechless on the other end of the line.” A week later, the friend reached out to ask for forgiveness.
Yeboah recalled, “He called me a week later, asking for forgiveness. I told him there was nothing to forgive because during our initial conversation, he didn’t tell me the truth. Since then, he hasn’t been in touch with me again.” Reflecting on the ordeal, Yeboah admitted that it left him deeply unsettled. “This entire situation has really frightened me. I’m now very wary of people,” he confessed.
