A total of 3,149 people have been displaced by flood in Buipe in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region. The Ghana Red Cross society has said.
The General Secretary of the Ghana Red Cross Society Solomon Gayoni made the call after visiting some affected communities in the region.
According to Mr. Gayoni, most of the victims are staying in classrooms adding that there are challenges of water, sanitation, and hygiene issues.
The chief of Buipe, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor upon visiting the affected residents, noted that floods have swept away their market putting traders in a devastating mood. Buipewura is calling on the Government for immediate intervention and support services.
He made the call during a press conference asking the government as a matter of urgency to evacuate the victims before any unforeseen pandemic occurred.
