The Western Regional Branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced its intention to increase transport fares by 30% starting from today, April 8, 2024.
This decision comes after a comprehensive survey conducted by the GPRTU, which revealed significant increases in the prices of spare parts and fuel.
Joseph Cudjoe the Western regional chairman of GPRTU explained that this decision was necessitated by recent cost build ups particularly the risen fuel prices.
Despite several attempt to engaged the transport ministry in discussion regarding this matter, Joseph Codjoe noted that these efforts have been unsuccessful.
