Lawyer Dennies Adjei Dwomo has expressed his strong disapproval of the marriage ceremony between 63-year-old Gborbu Wulormor and a 12-year-old girl, stating that it reflects a failure of the country to protect its future due to inadequacies in the legal system.
In a media statement monitored by Onokwafo Yaw Asiedu, Lawyer Dwomo lamented that existing laws do not adequately safeguard victims in such cases.
He attributed this failure to the government’s lack of investment in social welfare programs that could effectively address issues like child marriage. Lawyer Dwomo predicted that despite the attention this case is receiving now, it is likely to fade away within a year without any significant action taken, highlighting the systemic failures of institutions tasked with protecting girls.
While acknowledging the police’s involvement in protecting the child, Lawyer Dwomo emphasized that living in a country where systemic failures persist in protecting the girl child is deeply concerning. He called upon authorities to take necessary actions to improve the welfare of the country’s future generations.
