Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a stern warning regarding the importance of ensuring free and fair elections in 2024. Speaking on Accra-based Ahotor 92.3 FM, Mr. Gbande highlighted the recent incident involving missing Electoral kits from the Electoral Commission. Mr. Gbande asserted that the NDC would not remain passive if there were any indications of electoral malpractice in the upcoming 2024 elections.
In response to explanations provided by the Electoral Commission, which stated that it was laptops rather than BVD machines that went missing, Mr. Gbande expressed skepticism. He argued that the nature of the stolen items suggests a level of sophistication beyond typical theft, as ordinary laptop thieves wouldn’t target the Electoral Commission for such devices.
