Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for the Prestea Huni Valley, has leveled serious accusations against Future Global Resources Bogoso Prestea, a prominent mining company in the Western Region. According to Cudjoe, the company’s failure to fulfill Social Security deductions and other statutory payments to its workers has resulted in a significant halt in its operations, plunging many into uncertainty and financial strain.
Expressing grave concern over the apparent disregard for workers’ welfare by the management of the mining company, Cudjoe highlighted the widespread hardships endured by the local populace as a result of these unresolved issues.
Cudjoe further alleged that the takeover by Future Global Resources (FGR) had prompted a collective petition by all six Divisional Chiefs, whose lands the company operates on. This petition was directed to the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and other relevant institutions overseeing the extractive sector, urging immediate intervention to rectify the company’s current trajectory. The Chiefs expressed their dissatisfaction with what they perceived as a lack of investment by FGR’s parent company, Blue International Holdings, in the operations.
In a candid interview on Ahotor 92.3 FM, Cudjoe did not shy away from implicating the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in the alleged collapse of the mining company. He asserted that the prolonged non-payment of workers’ salaries, spanning a year, has exacerbated the plight of the people in the region, reflecting systemic failures that need urgent redress.
The dire situation facing the workers and the broader community underscores the urgent need for swift intervention to address the financial and operational challenges facing Future Global Resources Bogoso Prestea. The allegations raised by Hon.
