The National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed Trade and Industry Minister KT Hammond’s petition aimed at disqualifying his adversaries in the Adansi Asokwa parliamentary primary.
Mr. Hammond alleged that Samuel Dakwa Binfoh, Dr. Enoch Acheampong, and Kwabena Nkansah Asamoah, his opponents, lack party membership cards and haven’t contributed to the constituency.
Citing Articles 12(4) and (7) of the NPP’s constitution, Hammond contended their ineligibility to contest.
However, during its meeting on January 17, 2024, the National Executive Committee rejected the petition, allowing the three opponents to participate in the January 27 primaries.
Meanwhile, 33 NPP Members of Parliament are set to go unopposed in the upcoming primaries.
