Two Transport Operators in Ghana namely the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana and the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) have endorsed the 24-hour economy policy recently announced by National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.
The commercial drivers emphasized the significance of economic policies and expressed their support for initiatives to transform the country’s economic trajectory.
Addressing members of the media in a press conference held on the 7th of December 2023, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of GPRTU Sammy Amoah said the policy could be a game changer for drivers.
Deputy Secretary in charge of operations of the Concerned Drivers Nana Wiredu Asonaba, underscored the importance of a properly implemented 24-hour economy, foreseeing enhanced operations in commercial centers such as ports, harbors, marketplaces, and essential services during night shifts.
Some drivers talking to Ahotor FM‘s reporter Albert Cheetham said the policy has the potential to increase economic activity through the continuous operation of factories and production firms and providing drivers with more opportunities to transport passengers.
