The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) is considering Thursday, February 16 for its planned continuous registration ahead of the district level and unit committee elections later this year.
Per the timetable for the EC, as sighted by 3news.com, two meetings of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) should be held before the date is confirmed.
The Commission also intends to set up regional and district IPACs as part of an all-inclusive process ahead of the registration.
The registration, if successfully carried out as scheduled, will then be followed by an exhibition of the register between Tuesday, June 6 and Saturday, June 10.
All these will be in preparations towards this year’s district level and unit committee elections, proposed to be held on Tuesday, October 3.
The elections are expected to serve as a test case for the next general elections in 2024.
The presidential elections, in particular, will be crucial as Ghana will choose a new president after eight years.
