Four under-19 girls selected from the Asuogyamang district of Eastern Ghana successfully wrapped up their two-day emerging camp at the Achimota cricket park on Sunday.
Priscilla Oppong-Bea, Faustina Nartey, Deborah Tawiah, and Bernice Opare were taken through various hardball basics on parting, bowling, and fielding by the senior woman head coach Obed Harvey.
In an interview during the camp, Angela Allotey, treasurer of the Ghana Cricket Association who doubled as the ambassador for women’s cricket in Ghana talks about the plans for the girls.
“So we are here this who weakened have been here getting ladies, young ready to add them to senior women national team, we are trying to make sure that these emerging young ladies coming are well trained, that they are having enough time to prepare to get them to testify their inclusions into the senior team, we haven’t said the team is ageing but at the same time we got to have this root track to where we will be able to gradually get the young girls from the communities merging into our senior national team so this is the female pathway events and we have females the Asuogyamang district, today they are doing their emerging camping “.
” Next week will be another set from the central region and the week after, so we can set these young ladies ready to be able to merge with our senior women team, this is our Ghana for you, this is our preparation, ”Let’s Go Ghana” – she added.
The Ghana Cricket Association are touring around the country to scout young talents.
