Most people go to school for selfish motives. But not Dr Kusi Boachie Yiadom. He did not go to school just to improve his lot.
His motives for going to school, especially up to the PHD level, were purely altruistic. It was first and foremost to inspire members of his community to aspire to greater height in life by following his example.
Dr Boachie Yiadom, who is the Paramount Chief of Suma Traditional Area in the Brong Ahafo region, explained that not many people from Suma community have had PhD degrees at the time of his school. On his part, he went to school to help his community to also boast of some PhD holders. And to further prove to them that it was possible for members of that community to reach such high pedestal in life.
Nana, whose stool name is Odeneho Dr Affram Bremppong III, was speaking on Ahotor 92.3 FM’s ‘Heroes of our time’, a prestigious radio Mentorship program, hosted by Mr Akyena Brantuo on Ahotor 92.3 FM on Wednesday 8th February 2017.
Nana Boachie Yiadom is a successful man, and a role model worthy of emulation by our youth. Yet his life is one which typifies the saying ‘small beginnings make great ending.’
He started life very smaller, dropping out of school for many years, traveling to Lybia by foot, returning with nothing, and then going back to school after starting family. Yet he was not daunted. Hard work they say pays, he persevered until his hard work was rewarded him with success.
That was his message to the youth of our society. Hard work pays.
