Some residents of Kpotame in Tema Manhean have appealed to the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) to complete an abandoned public toilet facility that was started three years ago.
According to them, the construction of the 10-seater water closet facility with a bio-digester which was part of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA) sanitation project has been abandoned for almost two years now.
A visit to the facility shows that it is 90% complete as the facility has been roofed with plumbing works done awaiting fittings and wall tiles in the 10 cubicles has also been fixed.
Speaking to some of the residents they said due to the unavailability of a public toilet to serve the over 4,000 population of Kpotame, majority of them ease themselves at the seaside.
Also the uncompleted toilet facility has been turned into a refuse dump and a place of convenience for some residents.
Meanwhile Joshua Agudah, Assemblyman for the Dade Agbo electoral area said that he had raised the issue at their meetings and is hoping that leaderships of TMA complete the project to serve its intended purpose.
