A Political Youth Activist, Constant Kuampah on Tuesday appeared before an Accra District Court charged with murder.
Kuampah is alleged to have led a group of people who shot severally into house where one Fabian Mensah had then sought refuge and in the process injuring him which led to his death in the Volta Region last year.
The Court did not take the plea of Kuampah and remanded him to reappear on November 10.
The case of prosecution was that the accused is also a Campaign Manager of Mrs Dela Sowah, Member of Parliament for Kpando and former Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
According to the Prosecution, on April 3, last year, during the funeral of the late Mensah’s Aunty; the accused persons and other accomplices conspired to cause mayhem at the said funeral.
However prosecution said there was a heavy downpour so the accused and his accomplices were unable to carry out the act.
At about 14:00 hours, same day, Kuampah led by some persons went to the house of Mensah who was cooking with the wife.
Prosecution said the accused and his accomplices rained insults on Mensah and threatened; that he (Mensah) would die before the next day.
He said out of fear Mensah and his family sought refuge in his elder brother’s house.
According to the prosecution the following day, at dawn, Kuampah and his accomplices including the deceased’s neighbour went to the house of Mensah’s brother and opened gunfire indiscriminately.
He said Mensah was hit by the bullets and was rushed to the Anfoegah Hospital where died shortly after arrival.
Prosecution said an arrest warrant was issued in September, 2016 for Kuampah and he was later arrested.
