Police on Wednesday withdrew an injunction application which was seeking to restrain a group calling itself, Alliance for Responsible Citizens (AFRC) to demonstrate on November 6.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Elorm Bani informed an Accra Circuit Court that they believed they were at the wrong forum and that the application should have been filed at the High Court.
He said, the Police would hold a meeting with the leadership of the AFRC at the Regional Police Headquarters later.
AFRC had planned to demonstrate against the National Communications Authority (NCA) following sanctions imposed on some 131 radio stations across the country.
The police asked for some last minute changes to the route they planned to use after earlier agreeing to provide security for demonstrators.
The AFRC reschedule the demonstration to November 6, this year.
The Police however filed a motion for a restraining order against the group “in the interest of the public safety and security”.
