The Parliamentary Candidate for Tema Central, Hon. Ebi Bright, is optimistic about winning the Tema Central seat in the upcoming December 7th elections. She believes this victory will bring much-needed hope and leadership to the constituency, positioning it back on track as the industrial hub of Ghana.
Hon. Bright asserts that Tema is in dire need of new leadership—one that will focus on revitalizing the harbor city and restoring its status as a major industrial center. She emphasizes the importance of a parliamentary candidate who is ready to lead with solutions that directly address the needs of the constituents.
Speaking on Adekyee Mu Nsem, the morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra, Hon. Bright expressed her commitment to realizing the vision laid out in the 24-Hour Economic Manifesto of the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama. She highlighted that the manifesto aims to restore jobs, particularly in the light and heavy industrial sectors, which have seen a decline in recent years.
“It’s time to bring the vision of our flagbearer to life,” she said, emphasizing the need to focus on job creation and sustainable economic growth. “Tema Central can once again be a leading hub for industry and employment if we work together to bring back the lost opportunities.”
Hon. Bright also stressed that the time had come for Tema Central to reclaim its role as a key job provider, particularly for the youth who are currently struggling with high unemployment. She blamed poor policies by the NPP government for exacerbating the issue, and called for a renewed focus on reviving collapsed industries in the port city to boost the local economy.
She also pointed out that many recreational centers for both the elderly and the youth are under threat. As part of her commitment to the community, Hon. Bright plans to reclaim and redevelop these areas to provide spaces for sporting activities. This initiative, she believes, will go a long way in nurturing young talent in football and basketball within the constituency.
Looking forward, Hon. Bright emphasized the need to provide skills training for the youth and local entrepreneurs. Under the NDC’s “Reset Development Policy,” which is a cornerstone of their 24-Hour Economic Plan, she believes that the people of Tema Central can benefit from new employment opportunities.
She explained that the policy, which emphasizes care, accountability, and proper planning, will produce the best possible results for the people of Tema. “We are committed to creating opportunities for all, especially the youth and women,” she said.
Regarding women’s empowerment, Hon. Bright expressed confidence in the NDC’s Women Development Bank policy. This initiative aims to help women boost their businesses by providing access to financial support, which is often difficult to obtain due to high-interest rates on loans.
With these plans in place, Hon. Bright is optimistic about her chances in the December polls. She believes that her ability to work as part of a team, her leadership skills, and her vision for the future of Tema Central will help her secure a victory. “Looking at the current dynamics, I am confident that with hope, determination, and strong leadership, I will emerge victorious in the elections,” she said.
