CAF announces new date for completion of soccer season

There are seven teams from North Africa in both competitions now with only one from West Africa. In the Champions League, all four clubs are from North Africa. These are Raja Casablanca and Wydad Casablanca both from Morocco and Egyptian teams Al – Ahly SC and Zamalek SC. Horoya Athletic Club is the only non North African side.

 
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has proposed new dates for the completion of its inter club competitions. Both the Total Champions League and the Total Confederations Cup were suspended in mid March due to the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic.

 
CAF has given two scenarios and if nothing changes these will be adhered to. The first option – Semi-final: The first leg matches will be held from July 31 to August 1-2, with the return matches played by August 7-8.
The final match will be played on the 23rd of August.


The second option – Semi-final: The away games will be played between 4-6 September with return matches between 11-13 September. The final match will be played on 23rd of September.

Horoya Athletic Club is the only non North African side and they will play in the semi finals of the Total Confederation Cup alongside RS  Berkane and Hassania Agadir both of Morocco and Pyramids FC of Egypt.


The final of the Champions League will be a one off game for the first time in the history of CAF at Japoma Stadium, Douala, Cameroon. The Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat will host the Confederation Cup final.
