The Electricity Company of Ghana Training Centre is excited to announce the launch of its inaugural Youth Apprenticeship Programme, aimed at empowering young individuals with innovative skills to excel in the job market. This skills training initiative will commence on weekends starting June 2024.

The programme is tailored to equip Ghanaian youth aged 16 to 25 with essential knowledge in electrical engineering and energy management, fostering self-reliance and supporting the government’s efforts to tackle youth unemployment.

Strategically designed, the Youth Apprenticeship Programme offers hands-on training and practical experience in electrical systems, renewable energy technologies, and smart grid applications.

Moving forward, the training module will emphasize practical skills and industry insights, aiming to not only prepare participants for employment but also to inspire innovation within the energy sector, potentially fostering entrepreneurship among them.

Scheduled to commence in June 2024, the programme spans twelve weekends and will be held at the ECG Training Centre in Tema, specifically at Community 10 Junction. Eligible candidates are young individuals aged sixteen (16) to twenty-five (25).

This programme directly addresses the pressing need for job creation and skill development among Ghana’s youth, meeting a high demand in the job market. With increasing unemployment rates affecting young people nationwide, the ECG Training Centre is taking proactive steps to offer a comprehensive solution that not only addresses immediate employment concerns but also lays the groundwork for sustainable development and innovation in one of Ghana’s vital sectors.

Godfred Mensah, Director of the ECG Training Centre, emphasizes, “Our Youth Apprenticeship Programme goes beyond just teaching technical skills; it’s about empowering young individuals to become trailblazers in their future careers and in the energy sector. We are dedicated to providing a platform for creativity, entrepreneurship, and growth, contributing to national development.”
