Diaspora Property Expo 2025: Bridging the Gap for Ghanaians in North America to Own Homes in Ghana

A consortium of Ghanaian real estate stakeholders is set to host the Diaspora Property Expo (DPE) 2025 in March 2025. The two-part event aimed at empowering Ghanaians in North America to acquire property in Ghana will take place in Philadelphia, USA, and Ontario, Canada.

The initiative was officially launched on November 20, 2024, at the Accra Marriott Hotel in Airport City, Accra.

Event Details

The DPE 2025 is scheduled for:

March 21–23 at the World Trade Centre of Greater Philadelphia, USA

March 28–30 at the Marriott Centre Hotel, Ontario, Canada

The event is organized by a coalition of entities including Diaspora Property Investment Ltd, Made In Ghana Consulting Ltd, the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), the Ministry of Works and Housing, Nkunim Diaspora City of Mankessim, and Global Handlings Shipping Limited (GHSL).

Goals and Key Features

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Sidney Justin Tehoda, Country Director of Diaspora Property Expo LLC, emphasized that the primary objective of DPE 2025 is to create a trusted platform for connecting Ghanaians in the diaspora with credible real estate opportunities back home.

“Our aim is to facilitate secure and confident transactions while fostering collaborations that amplify opportunities for Ghanaians abroad to invest in property in Ghana,” Mr. Tehoda said.

The Expo will feature:

Conferences and panel discussions

Exhibitions showcasing the best of Ghanaian real estate projects

An Investment Clinic offering tailored advice on real estate and financing options

Over 57 exhibitors, including property developers, mortgage financiers, design firms, and real estate agencies, have already signed up for the event.

Testimonials and Support

Mr. Roland Thomas, CEO of GHSL and a member of the Local Planning Board, highlighted the Expo as a key platform to showcase premium housing solutions in Ghana while enabling potential buyers to connect directly with developers.

The President of GREDA, Mr. Patrick Ebo Bonful commended the initiative, stating that it represents a significant step toward making quality and affordable housing accessible to Ghanaians in North America.

Renowned Ghanaian lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata, who was a guest speaker at the launch, stressed the importance of Ghana’s stability for the success of such ventures.

“As you prepare for March, remember that Ghana’s global image, especially as a peaceful and democratic nation post-December elections, will be critical,” he said.

International Support

The project has received endorsements from key stakeholders in North America:

Mr. Julius Ossom, President of Aim 2 Impact, the official Canadian partner, assured attendees that Canada is ready to host the event, promising impactful discussions and opportunities.

Mr. Kofi Nartey, CEO of Globl RED LLC and the US partner, described the Expo as a bridge connecting Ghanaians abroad with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s real estate sector

Additionally, Madam Ayishatu Abdallah, speaking on behalf of Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, commended the organizers for their innovative approach. The Ministry pledged its support for the Expo.

Roadshows and North America Launch

The North American launch of DPE 2025 is slated for January 22, 2025, at the Ghana Embassy in Washington, DC. The event will be accompanied by roadshows across 25 cities in the US and Canada, building momentum ahead of the main program in March.
