Ghanaian artist Sarfo Newman recently opened up about the pressure he has faced to use hard drugs to enhance his stage confidence.
During an interview on Hitz FM on November 27, 2024, the ‘Akokoa’ star shared that he has encountered suggestions from some individuals to resort to such substances to elevate his performance in the creative arts industry.
“People have suggested that I experiment with these substances to energize my stage presence. However, I’m not inclined to do that. I don’t see myself going down that path,” he stated.
When addressing his distinctive style and response to criticism, Sarfo Newman remarked on the reluctance among Ghanaians to embrace innovative ideas and fresh personalities within the industry. “You need to stand out.
I believe Ghanaians often have a hard time accepting new characters. Take Carpet Man, for instance; he covers himself entirely. We have a tendency to cling to the familiar, but I think we should move away from that mindset and welcome change,” he explained.
Sarfo Newman rose to prominence in late 2023 with his popular track ‘Akokoa,’ which has already achieved over 116K views on YouTube. He has also put out several other singles, including ‘Miss Isabella,’ ‘Sorrow Fly,’ ‘March Past,’ and ‘All the Way.’
