Former black stars player Derek Boateng has blamed the GFA for Ghana’s poor AFCON U23 tournament in Morocco.
The Black Meteors failed to qualify for the Olympic Games after their group-stage elimination
Speaking about the current poor performance of the national teams, Derek Boateng accused the Football Association of influencing player selection in the various national teams.
“Some members in the GFA dictate for the national team coaches and invite players without the knowledge of the coaches. They instruct the coaches who should play and not to play, all this has to stop. Honestly, if we all come together we can play a big part in solving these problems.”
His comment comes after the Black Meteors’ disastrous showing at the Africa U23 Cup of Nations, where Ghana got eliminated from the group stage.
Ghana drew against Guinea in their final group game in Morocco
It is the third major tournament in the last 12 months that Ghana has failed to progress beyond the group stage.
The Black Stars were booted out of the group stages of AFCON 2021 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
