(LISTEN): We are SORRY – Keta MP apologizes

“Forgive us, We are sorry” those are the words of the Member of Parliament for the Keta Constituency in the Volta Region Kwame Dzudorli Gapkey who has apologised on behalf of his colleague NDC MPs who voted for the six new ministers in Parliament last week.

Speaking with Emmanuel Martey a.k.a Alaska De Don on Ahotor 92.3 FM’s afternoon political show ‘Simpieso’, Hon. Gapkey said it was not all the NDC MPs who voted in favour of the new ministers despite leadership of the party directing them to vote against them.

“What I want to say is that is not all MPs who committed that thing but over close to 100 people have complied with the pack directive is only few and the those few too, they are finding some issues regards to change in leadership issues further crack is still in” he told Alaska De Don.

Hon. Gapkey said while the outcome may not be as expected, the caucus will continue to work together to achieve its goals.

The NDC had earlier asked all its MPs not to support the approval of the nominees.

The position was to force President Akufo-Addo to significantly reduce the size of his government.

But after a secret vote, all the nominees were approved despite the absence of three MPs from the majority side in Parliament.

The outcome of Thursday’s vote indicates several members of the Minority voted for the approval of the ministerial nominees.

The Keta legislator promised such thing won’t happen again.
