Member of Parliament for sagnarigu in the Northern Region has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo as he calls him a “konkonsa” (gossip) person over comments involving Burkina Faso in the United States of America.
On Wednesday, during an interview in the United States with the American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, Ghanaian President Akufo-Addo assured that Burkina Faso had “concluded an arrangement to, like Mali, employ forces of Wagner”.
“I believe that a mine in the south of Burkina was allocated to them as a form of payment for their services” , he added, specifying that according to him “the Russian mercenaries are on the northern border” of Ghana.
During his meeting with the minister, the Ghanaian ambassador, Boniface Gambila Adagbila , assured that the words of his president “were not intended to condemn Burkina Faso, nor to sow doubt in people’s minds”, according to the account- minutes of the meeting, published by the Burkinabè Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The intention was above all to attract the attention of partners in order to arouse great interest in Burkina Faso”, added the ambassador, quoted in the press release.
A comment many security analysts believes it could be a threat to National security.
Speaking on Ahotor Fm’s morning show Adekye Mu Nsem on Monday 18th December, Hon. Fuseini told Citizen Kofi Owusu “What the President went to say about the Russian mercenaries and Burkina Faso is konkonsa, say something about your brother to get something”
“He went there to borrow so he should have concentrated on the borrowing, what he did is like wanting something from your father so you will be saying things about your Senior brother to get that favour”.
He told the President to concentrate on how to turn the economy around and stop saying things about other countries which could bring a whole new problem to solve.
“That konkonsa man should concentrate on finding a way to turn the economy around, you said cedi has appreciated but prices of foods still are high, go to market and check, how can your inflation be 50.3% but you are jubilating, who does that?..Me I have been saying, what he went to USA to do to Burkina Faso is konkonsa, Akufo-Addo is a konkonsa person period”.
Hon. Fuseini told Ghanaians to blame the Akufo-Addo led government as families can’t celebrate this year’s Christmas as always because of the economic hardships.
“Nothing shows we are in Christmas, next week is Christmas but you don’t even feel it, people don’t have money and I know this Christmas will be the worst Christmas when money is mentioned even we MPs are feeling the heat”
The Sagnarigu legislator also cautioned Ghanaians not to be fooled by the appreciation of the Cedi because it will depreciate again as the government has not put out any good measures to help the Ghana Cedi.
“It normally happens, going to and during Christmas, the Cedi appreciate but after Christmas it depreciate again don’t be fooled it is not because of any policy the government has put in place, we are in a crisis” He told Citizen Kofi Owusu.
