Former Ghana Ambassador to United kingdom, H.E Ambassador Victor Smith has berated the 8th Parliament as bogus.
The former, High Commissioner to UK explained that the current parliament seem to be toiling with the minds of the citizens.
Commenting on the recent brouhaha surrounding the vote of censure against the finance minister Ken Ofori Atta by the Majority group and the NDC side of the House over his non performance as Finance Minister. He said to Citizen Kofi Owusu that, some mps in parliament are unfit to attend to the business of the House due to the manner in which certain sensitive issues are deliberated upon especially if it borders on national interest.
He cited the raging issues on motion of vote of censure against the finance minister and said parliament failed to do the needful when it matters most to push out the embattled minister.
He noted that parliament must protect the sovereignty of the power entrusted to them on behalf of the citizens and electorates.
Mr. Smith further said the Minister of Finance ought to do the needful and resign honourably from Office due to the bad performance exhibited since becoming a minister of state for six years.
The Former High Commissioner, admonished the Majority in parliament to stand their ground and support the NDC Mps to push the motion for vote of censure which have been on the debate radar for months now over stalemate each time parliament sits on the matter.
The Minority In Parliament is expected to reconvene the censure debate to remove Ken Ofori Atta from Office on Thursday 8th December, 2023.
Ambassador Victor Smith advised the minority to defend the public purse by going all out on the debate on the motion to ensure the Minister resigns from Office.
Mr. Smith further asserted on Adekye Mu Nsem on Thursday that, parliament should take the good people of Ghana serious and pass the vote of censure.
According to Victor Smith, the 137 NDC Mps forms about 82% of the entire minority and they have the numbers to vote against the Minister of Finance.
He said the NPP diabolic agenda, is to emptied the state Coffex, by spending and borrowing recklessly through Bond and loans. The former Ambassador, call on Ghanaians to rally behind the NDC MPs to oust Ken Ofori Atta from Office since he has become a waste to the tax payer.
