Supreme Court now the annex of the NPP- Prof Joshua Alabi fires bias Judges.

Prof Joshua Alabi has rebuked the supreme Court of Ghana over its recent ruling in the matter involving the opposition NDC and the Electoral Commission of Ghana .

The NDC’s Campaign Manager for the 2020 Elections has criticised the recent SC’s ruling for what he described as lack of clarity and reason over the interpretation of Article 42 “Every citizen of Ghana of eighteen years of age or above and of sound mind has the right to vote and is entitled to be registered as a voter for the purposes of public elections and referenda” and who a citizen of Ghana is .

According to Prof Joshua Alabi, the ruling lacks clarity, reasonable justification and logic and further questioned the motives behind such a ruling by no lesser a court than the supreme court of the land.

In past weeks, many Ghanaians have reacted to the ruling by the Apex court accusing the court of bias and ill judgement.

Per the ruling birth certificates and the current voters ID are no longer valid legal documents to prove one’s citizenship. Rather the court agreed with the provisions of CI 126 which allows passport and Ghana card as the only means of ascertaining one’s eligibility as a Ghanaian to register and vote.

Speaking on Ahotorfm’s afternoon political show programme, the former Vice Chancellor of UPSA chastised the court over what he described as poor and politically tainted ruling.

Prof Joshua Alabi asserted that the supreme court has become the annex of the Npp party advancing the interest of President Akuffo Addo after packing the court with persons loyal to him instead of the state.

“President Akuffo Addo has packed the supreme court, now everything from the court favors him and his Npp, the Supreme court has become the annex of the party advancing its cause as a thank you token for their appointments but the judges must know that they will not be there forever.

Prof Alabi also expressed worry over the current state of our judicial system and concluded that ” Ghana is off track”. He revealed that certain persons in the judiciary have allowed themselves to be used and that according to him is a dangerous phenomenon we must all guard against.
