Former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba has declined the appointment of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s Ambassador-designate to Italy.
The former National Women’s Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) who was among casualties in the recent reshuffle, was set to replace Ms Paulina Tangoba Abayage who will be taking over from Mr Rockson Ayine Bukari as Upper East Regional Minister.
Mr Bukari comes to Accra as Minister of State at the Office of the President.
But close sources to the former Minister revealed to MyNewsGh.com that she thanked the president for the offer but declined it citing family reasons.
“Over 10 years since she entered politics, she reveals there has not been time for the family so she is taking a bow in order to consider spending time with them. Her tight schedule as a Women’s Organiser and later as a Minister put much pressure on her to the extent she had little time to spare”, the source added.
The source also revealed to us that it is likely she may be considering a complete quit from politics in the interest of her family
