Assin North by-election; SC ruling on Gyakye Quayson was wrong – Twum Barima (ESQ)

Private legal practitioner, Alexander Twum Barima (ESQ) has indicated that the Supreme Court (SC) was wrong with its ruling against the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North constituency, Hon James Gyakye Quayson.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Ahotor FM, Twum Barima said the apex court goofed because the constitution makes it clear when someone must be ruled out in such a contest.
According to him, Gyakye Quayson was not a member of parliament after failing to contest the 2020 elections and he was not holding his Canadian citizenship after he became the MP.
He said despite all the challenges the former MP is going through, he is still on course to develop Assin North.
“I am sure, the people of Assin North will vote for Gyakye Quayson come June 27 because he is a good man”, he added.
He said the government only acts when something happens and everyone saw what they did at Kumawu during the by-elections but Assin North constituents will not fall for their lies.
