IT Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of DCL Technology Ghana Mr. Kwadwo Kyei Amoako says most of the Telecommunication Networks in Ghana are facing serious technical problems which is affecting service delivery.
His comments comes after backdrop of recent complains from subscribers.
Some subscribers complained about their various experiences on a bad service one of the giant telecommunication companies in the country is giving them on Ahotor 92.3 Fm’s morning show, Adekye Mu Nsem.
From not able to purchase airtime, unable to make calls and poor data services was part of the complains.
But reacting to the complains, Mr. Amoako who is an IT expert said “most of the Telco’s are having serious technical problems but because of competition, the problems will be shielded and they will say all is good, they are having serious problems”.
He believes the numerous roads construction across the country is also a critical part of the Telecommunication networks not been able to provide good networks because fibers are being damaged by excavations along the some major roads in the country.
He further disclosed that the swinging of IT persons from one telecommunication network to the other, there could be a form of sabotage as secrets could be sold out.
“IT persons swinging from network A to B could be a serious problem as secrets can be shared to sabotage a particular network, as a person familiar with this, let me leave it here” he told Citizen Kofi Citizen Kofi Owusu.
He urged the Telecommunication networks to use the radio to communicate to subscribers if there should be any technical problems as it would help the people understand what the problem is.
“I will urge the Telecommunication Networks to use the radio to send out any information to subscribers because it will be explained in the local languages to them to understand”
Ghana was one of the first African countries to liberalize its telecommunications market. In 1992 the first mobile network went into operation and within two years, the country was connected to the World Wide web.
Today, the numbers on Internet access speak to the country’s rapid transformation. Ghana has close to 19 million unique mobile subscribers.
