ASIEDU NKETIA’S AUDIO ON OFOSU AMPOFO; UNFORTUNATE AND CLOAKED IN VANITY – B.O.T writes

I have listened with utter dismay an Audio/video featuring the voice/visuals of Hon. Asiedu Nketia, making serious allegations of insubordination against Hon. Ofosu Ampofo in the run up to the 2020 elections. In my view it absolutely smacks of indiscretion in the face of a hostile political opponent in Ghana.

From my analysis of the accusations, the logic in the claims against Ofosu Ampofo doesn’t add up.

In the primary stretch of his submission, Hon. Asiedu Nketia claimed that Hon. Ofosu Ampofo defied President Mahama’s plea to hold on with some Appointments specifically, the Director of IT and the Director of Elections till he returned from a trip. I will shortly subject this claim to strict proof to ascertain its veracity or otherwise in the next paragraph.

In the secondary stretch, Asiedu Nketia asserted that, the National Executives made a choice of a company during the Procurement process for the Fintech App for the electronic collection of NDC donations and when the proposal was brought to him, he rejected it because “the company belonged to Sammy Crabbe of the NPP”. He therefore went for another Company which belonged to an NDC sympathizer. Fair enough!

If Asiedu Nketia could reject the proposal from FEC, how come he could not stop the Appointment of the Director of Operations and that of Elections especially when he as the General Secretary is mandated by the constitution to sign the Appointment Letters of the persons in question. Why didn’t he refuse to sign the letters if indeed Ofosu Ampofo threatened to resign if FEC went on with the Appointments?

To briskly sink the allegation further was the Press Statement issued today from the Office of former President John Mahama and signed by Hon Joyce Bawah Eaq. The statement indicates that, he president Mahama doesn’t have any candidate as his preference in the upcoming National Congress of the party.

Going by logic, one cannot resist a question such as; if indeed, John Mahama was offended by the action of Hon. Ofosu Ampofo, why come out to debunk the allegations of preference? Clearly, the preference theory has been exposed to be a fabrication, from some self seeking individuals in the Chairmanship Contest.

In conclusion, I wish to state in line analysis above that, indeed John Mahama was not offended by any action by Ofosu Ampofo even if there were lack of consensus on some matters of party interest at the time.

In any case, who hasn’t conducted himself contrary to the aspirations and wishes of the other in a human institution such as a Political party? Has Asiedu Nketia never offended any party member before?

I thought we were all here when Asiedu Nketia referred to the Founder of the party, President Rawlings as a barking dog? If Asiedu Nketia was not held for the guilt of insubordination against Rawlings, why blow a simple issue of divergence opinion to a case of insubordination? Quite unfair.

Let’s go into this elections as siblings of the same parents in the market place. We are bound by our circumstances to haggle for prices with decorum as we shall all be returning back to the same room after market is closed. Thank you!
