Wereko-Brobby mocks Akufo-Addo, ‘he went to France, Belgium To ‘beg’ for aid’

Founding member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Chief Executive Officer of Volta River Authority, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby claims President Akufo Addo’s visit to two European countries; France and Belgium is nothing but to seek economic aid.

President Akufo-Addo was in France yesterday, May 18, 2021 to attend a summit hosted by the French President, Emmanuel Macron. The submit was held to discuss post-COVID-19 economic recovery for African countries.

But Dr. Wereko-Brobby said President Akufo-Addo, whom he described as a “visionary” leader is championing the Ghana Beyond Aid’ agenda was in Paris soliciting for economic aid.

Dr. Brobby’s comment seems to be justified as Ghana secures a €170 million facility from the European Investment Bank for the establishment of a development bank in Africa or for any developmental projects on the African continent.

The agreement was reached during President Akufo-Addo’s visit to Belgium where he met and discussed with President of the European Investment Bank, Dr. Werner Hoyer on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
