GFA announces modalities to share Covid-19 funds
Premier League clubs will receive $15,000 with Division One clubs taking $10,000 and GHALCA will receive $2,000.
The Ghana Football Association has announced modalities for sharing monies received as Covid-19 relief fund to clubs following a meeting on Tuesday.
The monies will be shared among the Premier League clubs, Division One clubs and the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA).
Premier League clubs will receive $15,000 with Division One clubs taking $10,000 and GHALCA will receive $2,000.
According to the GFA, the first tranche is expected this month, with the second tranche arriving in January 2021.
The disbursement of the fund will be completed after receipt of the second tranche, meaning, some constituent bodies will have to wait until the second tranche arrives to collect their share.
The first tranche of money from FIFA is expected to be received by the GFA in July, with Premier League clubs receiving $10,000 initially and $5,000 later.
Division One clubs will be given an amount of $5,000 from the first tranche, before receiving $2000 later.
This is seen as a huge relief for the clubs following the financial difficulties imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and the Referees Committee will all get their share of the fund.
FIFA last month approved a stimulus package of $1.2 billion for its member associations due to the Covid-19 pandemic to help them during this financial crisis.
