A tema based private radio station Ahotor 92.3 megahertz, a media wing under the Universal Multimedia Limited situated at Community 17, Lashibi has put smiles on the face of a 17 years old Isaac Kumah, a second year business student at Adu Gyamfi Prempeh College located in the Ashanti regional calpital of Kumasi.
The move became necessitated after one of the elitists and emerging brand of Professional radion sports program on ahotor fm (92.3 ) in the greater Accra dubbed “Professional and Academic Sports show” which is being played host by a known avid Sports team headed by Daakyehene Kwabena Amoabeng, and team of crack sports journalists ; Dean ( Dean of sports) Ebenezer Obeng, Kwame Kusi , Ken ( King of sports) granted audience to embattled Kumah, through the tacit and benevolent gesture and support by the traditional ardent fanatics of the station who took the initiative and assisted the beleaguered brilliant but needy student who has since been at home due to harsh economic deprivations which have befallen his family after series of epileptic omen and suicidal living difficulties respectively.
Isaac Kumah recounted he has been at home and struggling to revert to school since school reopened this Academic year due to unbridled Financial predicaments.
He furthermore, gave narration about the ordeal amidst tears that he has been going through tough times due to his inability to fed for himself and not to talk about money to purchase personal effects and also provisions as well as pocket money for his upkeep on campus.
He bemoaned a Samaritan supporting him died whiles his Uncle a “trotro” driver who tried taking care of him is also aver he is unable to continue taking care of him due to the fact that the trotro” he relied on as source of income generation had been involved in an accident and so it could not runs errands for disposable income. He noted !
Isaac who is a staunched fun of the of the sports program on Ahotor FM took a bold step to the station, and narrated his poor living condition to the team.
However, the crew after assessing and diagnosing the account by the young man , and the sorrowful state he finds himself decided to heed to his call. They avowed they developed goose bumps and could not stand the magnitude of the economic woes by the 17 years old after hearing such life threatening living difficulties and hence decided to attend to his plight with immediacy since his situation was odd, dire and saddened.
Suffix to this, the team made a public appeal on live radio and solicit for funds in any kind and form to aid them salvaged the destitute Isaac Kumah, by offering him a new life, and hope of continuing his education.
Subsequently on Wednesday 17th October, 2018 during the late afternoon sports show edition, listeners of the program majority of whom loyal listeners of the station, rallied support by donating various sums of money amounting to an unspecified amount in support of the said gentleman so that he can return to his the Ashanti region and begin schooling.
According to briefs gathered by this site, the timely donations by the listeners to Isaac Kumah, got the entire sports team stunned as many retorts it was refreshing and a sigh of jaw dropping moment and ecstasy.
The team upon taken delivery of over Gh¢900 plus bought consumables and clothes and also offered him a cash donation of about Gh¢250 for upkeep and transport fare to Kumasi where he lives.
As at the time of filing this story, it has been revealed that, Isaac Kumah has since returned to his base in the Ashanti region, and had already expressed delight and appreciation to the sports team and loyalists of ahotor fm for coming to his rescue in bid of the company’s core mandate and social responsibility.
