24-Hour Economy will not be imposed on businesses – John Mahama

Former President and 2024 flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has said that the 24-hour economy he proposed will not be imposed on businesses.

According to him, it’s a voluntary policy which businesses will be encouraged to sign onto the policy.

He indicated that, this policy is only meant to create jobs for all Ghanaians.

He made this known while speaking to Catholic Bishops in Sunyani Saturday, November 18, 2023, he noted, “The 24 hour economy I propose will be voluntary, it will not be imposed. Businesses will be encouraged to sign up with tax incentives provided for them and enhanced security and lower electricity tariffs after peak hours”.

The former flagbearer proposed the 24-hour Economy when he met with officials of the country’s mother workers union on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the start of his engagement with key stakeholders in a quest to return power.
