What have we done for this wicked governance —- Tony Aidoo

“Ghanaians find themselves grappling with a leadership under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which, in the eyes of many, has been steering the nation towards destruction. The governance style appears to revolve around borrowing, extravagant spending, and accumulating debt, without translating these financial resources into meaningful development. Meanwhile, there is a paradoxical plea for debt forgiveness on the horizon.

The leadership of Nana Addo has been marked by a trail of unfulfilled promises, leaving the citizens entangled in a web of deceit and lies for the past seven years. Dr. Tony Aidoo, a former Senior Presidential Aide and Head of the Policy Evaluation and Oversight Unit under the late President Atta Mills, expressed these sentiments on the Simpieso Political Talk Show on Ahotor 92.3 FM, hosted by Emmanuel Martey (Alaska De Don) in Accra.

He noted that the Dankwa Busia tradition has a tendency to inflate the government budget through heavy borrowing, yet fails to show corresponding development projects associated with the acquired loans. In contrast, the National Democratic Congress takes pride in several projects initiated during its tenure, funded by various loans.

Addressing the alleged Agyapa and PDS scandals, Dr. Aidoo decried the pervasive corruption that is causing the nation to bleed, with all sectors of the economy suffering due to cronyism and poor governance whenever the Busia Dankwa family is in power.

In a political revelation, Ghanaians are gradually uncovering the true character of the NPP. Dr. Aidoo accused Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the NPP’s flag bearer, of being transparently deceptive in his inaugural public political encounter, marked by falsehoods and unfulfilled promises.

Commenting on the NPP’s campaign team for the 2024 December elections, Dr. Aidoo characterized it as an ‘impression management agenda’ aimed at diverting attention from the corrupt practices of the past seven years.

Furthermore, Dr. Aidoo expressed concern that much of the country’s debt has been temporarily suspended to protect the cedi. When the time comes to resume payments, he predicts that the cedi’s value will plummet, plunging the country into another economic crisis.

Strikingly, Dr. Aidoo lamented the apparent destruction of the national football team, the Ghana Black Stars, attributing it to the actions of politicians whose interests seem to prioritize looting and damaging the nation.
