We will resist EC with our blood – Farudeen

Farudeen Yakubu, PNC spokesperson

The decision by the Electoral Commission to compile a new voters register and the ensuing brouhaha has caused some panic in the country and lots of political activists have shared their opinions on the matter.

The opposition National Peoples Convention (PNC) Director of Communication for the the Greater Accra region, Farudeen Yakubu is of the view that the Electoral Commission (EC) and the National Identification Authority (NIA) are devising dubious means to compile a new voters register for the upcoming 2020 general elections.

He believes the plan is to rig the elections in favour of the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and to plunge the country into chaos

The vibrant communicator says, the money to be used for the program could be channeled towards other developmental projects which are of more importance to the citizens than the new voters register

He claimed that the decision by the EC to use only the Ghana Card and passport as the only  documents required to get one registered was a calculated plan and a further proof that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Akufo Addo wants to sway the upcoming elections in their favor

In a panel discussion on ‘Asem Yi Dika’ on Ahotor FM with host Emmanuel Martey (aka Alaska), Mr Farudeen explained that, they will resist with their blood if necessary  to stop the Electoral Commission from compiling the new voters register

According to Mr Farudeen, the covid-19 pandemic, the financial crisis in the country and the rainy season which we find ourselves makes it more complicated to do the exercise and advised that the EC put a stop to it to help curb the spread of the virus

He concluded by saying, the Akufo Addo led Government has done a great disservice to the nation and called on Ghanaians to vote them out of power come the 2020 election for the betterment of the country
