Stop politicising issues relating to the National Health Insurance Scheme – Politicians Advised

Mr. Clement Obeng, the Public Relations Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme in the Bono Region, emphasized the importance of depoliticizing issues surrounding the scheme.

He urged politicians and the public to avoid politicizing matters concerning the National Health Insurance Scheme to strengthen its efficacy in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Obeng highlighted the regulations set by health insurance authorities to prevent co-payment or unauthorized collection of money from patients with health insurance cards.

He warned of penalties for those who violate these rules, stressing that politicians should not exploit these principles to discredit the government.

Mr. Clement Obeng commended the management of the National Health Insurance Authority for their diligent efforts in reducing illegal extortion and co-payment practices among healthcare providers.

He praised the leadership for establishing rules and regulations to deter healthcare providers and hospitals from engaging in such practices, emphasizing that those who do so will face demotion.
