Gyampo urges Akufo-Addo to release KPMG report on GRA/SML deal.

Prof. Ransford Gyampo, a senior political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, has demanded that President Akufo-Addo releases the KPMG findings regarding the contentious Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) deal.

Despite the report being submitted to President Akufo-Addo, Gyampo criticizes the lack of transparency surrounding the issue.

President Akufo-Addo initially suspended the controversial GRA/SML deal and enlisted KPMG to investigate. However, the timeline for the audit’s completion was extended to February 23, 2024.

Gyampo, in a scathing Facebook post on April 3, argues that swift publication of the report is crucial to dispelling lingering rumors.

Expressing concern over potential corruption allegations, Gyampo emphasizes the public’s right to know the report’s contents, highlighting the principles of accountability and transparency that any responsible government should uphold.

He admonishes the President to consider the legacy he will leave behind, urging him to prioritize good governance, accountability, and the fight against corruption, especially in the context of impending political transitions.
