GES must be up to the task to stick to best practices in management of FSHS —- Kwame Alorvi

The internal confusion associated with opening of new academic year for Free Senior High Schools between the Ghana Education Services and Headmasters is getting untidy. Where some of the headmasters can only received their interdiction notice through the social media is very embarrassing and unprofessional on the part of the Ghana Education Service.

The Former President of National Association Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) Mr. Kwame Alorvi said this on Adekyee Mu Nsem on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Nana Dogbey in Accra.

He said it has become clear that, there are a lot of schools which are going through a lot of deficit of teaching and learning materials. While some of the charges leveled against some of the headmasters has to do with management decision to protect and accommodate the welfare of the students for effecting running of the schools.

Though some of the actions taken may be outrageous in terms of fees charges; there is a need for the major stake holders to manage the challenges with proper code of ethics and principle to address the problem, devoid of disgrace and embarrassment some of the head teachers are going through.

Mr. Alorvi is of the view that there are a lot of challenges and problem running through the new and continue students and, while looking at the reality in managing the welfare of these student population, there is a need for urgent decision to be taken to forestall the unforeseen dangers which may arise through any health related cases and the entire welfare of the students.

He reiterated that lets be reminded that, the secondary schools throughout the country are human institutions and care and management skills has to be brought to bear to protect lives and property.

While there is a need for the policy makers and implementing institutions; the headmasters and the teachers must collaborate to address the challenges confronting the Free Senior High School prgramme, rather than playing politics and showmanship from the Ghana Education Service and the government.
