Community 5 market lands are not for sale – Concerned members fumed.

Concerned Members of Community 5 in the Tema West Municipal are calling on authorities to desist from selling lands meant for development in the area to a private entity.

According to them, they need infrastructural projects in the area and not to sell the little they have.

Speaking in a press conference today at the community 5 market, the Assembly member for Kaiser electoral area, Hon Christian Dela Afetor indicated how the community express their dismay about the sale of the only market land they have in the community to some NPP party apparatchiks by this government.

According to him, the sale of the market land will further exacerbate the woes in this hard economy since it will cost them extra money to travel in and out of community 1 just to purchase tomatoes.

Economically, it is not wise for one’s transportation to cost more than the item you intended to purchase. Again, there is no sense in it to travel out of your community to the other just to purchase tomatoes.

They called on the body responsible for the sale of the market, either the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) or the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to as a matter of urgent terminate the sale of the market land immediately.

Finally, they used the opportunity to appeal to government to develop the community 5 market to an ultramodern market facility like the Kejetia market in Kumasi and others since the current building and structure are in a deplorable state.
