Ramzy Adama Sulemana, Member of Parliament for Tain Constituency, revealed that the Minority plans to oppose two of the three reasons cited by the Majority for their return to Parliament.
He explained that one reason the Majority wants them back is to approve loans, which they intend to vote against.
The Majority defended their decision to recall Parliament from recess, citing Order 53 of the House’s Standing Orders. They claim the recall is to address significant issues, including approving the Appointments Committee’s 34th report, discussing a $150 million loan for the GARID Project, and considering tax exemptions for beneficiaries of the 1D1F Programme.
Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin disclosed that over a hundred caucus members have signed a petition to the Speaker supporting the recall.
Responding to this on Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s morning show ‘AdeKyee Mu Nsem‘ with host Citizen Kofi Owusu, Hon. Adama Sulemana emphasized that the Speaker holds the power, and they will reject any loans if Parliament resumes.
