Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyim Central, has denied claims of instigating the arrest of the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah.
Mr. Ofosu Nkansah has been arrested by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for allegedly distributing money to delegates ahead of the parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on January 27.
According to the NPP Constituency Secretary of Asante Akyem Central, Felix Amakye, the OSP learnt of the alleged distribution of the money after Mr. Nkansah’s contender for the seat, Kwame Anyimadu Antwi, hinted the Office.
Following the report, Mr. Nkansah was taken into custody and subsequently transported to his office in Accra to assist in ongoing investigations. But, the legislator, Mr Anyimadu-Antwi, has denied the accusation. According to him, the General Secretary who made the allegation, did so because he supports Mr. Ofosu Nkansah.
“I have no clue about what the secretary is alleging and it is about time for us to do the elections and the primaries are still around the corner and this is not a do-or-die affair.
The secretary has taken sides with one of the contenders and has been speaking passionately and there is pain in the constituency.
