Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman has paid tribute to the late council of state member Hon Enoch Teye Mensah popularly known as E.T. Mensah whose burial service is underway at the forecourt of the state house in Accra.
According to the 2020 running mate of John Mahama and the NDC, she was not surprised when the late E.T Mensah won the council of state slot in the Greater Accra to represent the people to council President as an opposition member, because that is how democracy is supposed to be for the government in power to move to the right direction for the betterment of the country.
Speaking to the media, the former minister of Education, Prof Opoku Agyeman said she cannot put a date to when she got to know the late ET Mensah because the man has been a public figure for long through sports and politics.
She indicated that ET Mensah was one of the three-member team who were interested in the infrastructural development of the country and he played his role very well.
She called on God to give him rest for he has paid his dues to the motherland.
The late E.T. Mensah died on October 1 2023 in South Africa while going for treatment.
Before his death, he was the Council of State member representing the Greater Accra Region.
He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the good people of Ningo-Prampram from 7 January 1997 to 7 January 2017 on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and held ministerial offices in the administration of JJ Rawlings and Prof Evans Atta Mills.
He was succeeded in parliament by Hon Samuel Nartey George (Sam George) on the same umbrella ticket.
He will be laid to rest this weekend. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
