Let’s accord distinction to public office devoid of political interest —- Edward Bawa

The reality of vote buying has taken a different height and is further destroying the values and tenets of our democracy which stands on trust and fairness.

The public is getting agitated in respect to a report where some senior public servant’s interest to contest for a political position are still been encourage to be at post while involving in political contest begs for the attention of the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

In a situation where delegates openly confirmed this on air, expressing concern over the lack of action from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in investigating these matters is very unfortunate.

The Member of Parliament for Bongo Hon. Edward Bawa said this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Nana Dogbey in Accra.

Hon. Bawa is of the view that the current sitting Controller and Accountant-General Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem is vying to contest one of the seats in the central region. And its worrying and unfortunate this public servant is still at post without any hitch of summons from the OSP on vote buying.

What is going on its very bizarre where the OSP is seen attacking other less notable people involved in the vote buying saga in the just past New Patriotic Party orphan primaries? This he said.

In reacting to revelation he made over the weekend saying, he has accused the Controller and Accountant-General Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem of putting delegates in the Akim Swedru constituency on salary for the past two years in preparation to contest as the MP for the constituency.

It is on record that, the Controller and Accountant-General Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem has publicly declared his intention to contest the upcoming parliamentary primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). It’s noteworthy that his brother, Joseph Ampomah Bosompem, held the same seat as a Member of Parliament from January 2008 to January 2013, losing the seat in 2012 to Kennedy Osei Nyarko.

This revelation comes amidst broader concerns about vote-buying incidents in the recently concluded NPP parliamentary primaries, with Bawa emphasizing the urgent need to address various forms of corruption within the political landscape.
The OSP is not interested in investigating this, Bawa asserted.

He discounted the efforts by the NPP communicators to twist the facts without speaking to the records, since the office of the Controller and Accountant-General Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem is occupying can leads to conflict of interest since all the state checks and major government projects which has to do with financial transaction goes to him for his approval.
He opined that, in his opinion it will be appropriate and justify for him to resign and set aside and go in for the contest for a neutral person to take over the ruining of the office of the Controller and Accountant General.
