CALLS MOUNT FOR ALHAJI KARIM GRUSAH’S REMOVAL FROM FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION AND KING FAISAL AS LEGAL BATTLES PERSIST

Alhaji Karim Grusah, the long-standing figure in Ghanaian football, is facing increasing pressure for his removal from both the football association and his club, King Faisal. In a career spanning two decades, Grusah has repeatedly taken legal action against the association, leading many to question whether his continued presence is in the best interest of the sport.

Critics argue that his prolonged tenure has been characterized by an unprecedented level of litigation, and they now assert that his tolerance within the football community has run its course. The demand for his ousting is gaining momentum, with Albert Yaya Commey adding his voice to the growing chorus of dissent on Radio 360.

In response to the ongoing dispute, Commey argued that the crux of the matter lies in ignorance, highlighting that Grusah transferred a player to Tamale City in good faith, and the subsequent mistake should not be attributed to him. Commey cited previous instances where he had foreseen unfavourable outcomes for Grusah’s legal pursuits, including the recent case before the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), which did not yield in his favour.

He said, “Alhaji Grusah’s issue is a matter of ignorance. Yes, there was a mistake and a mistake was committed by another club before he transferred the player genuinely to Tamale City.  So why do you blame Tamale City?

When a coach narrated this story to me I said there’s no way they will win and they lost.  When they went for CAFs I said there’s no way they will win. That is why the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sports) didn’t grant him the opportunity.

So, when he comes there, it looks as if people are going to talk about those things.

Commey further asserted that Grusah’s repeated legal battles have put him at odds with the online footballing community, and the time has come for decisive action. He called for the removal of both Alhaji Grusah and his club from the association and emphasized that consistent enforcement of the same rules for all involved parties is essential to maintain the integrity of the sport.

Commey also hinted at the possibility of Grusah’s absence from future congresses, signalling a desire to distance the association from individuals whose actions are deemed detrimental to its welfare.

Asserting to that fact he said, “Look! Alhaji Grusah for years, count it, has sent FA to Court. And I think personally I think they have been lenient to him.  They have to sack him and his club from the association.  They have to sack his club from the association.

Because when I was with the Medeama, somebody just wanted to tell him that it was a mistake.  He took the case to court.  When they put his CEO on the dock, come and see how he messed up!

Then, they found a way to put him there and he will continue doing it.  And I think let me tell you that if this issue does not go well there is no need for him to go to CAS because when he went to the court it did not work out. Football is not meant for one person

Because, to be honest, he is one person who for over 20 years has been taking the association to court. Meanwhile, even if a person sends them to court once he is sacked”.

So, Alhaji has been tolerated for far too long. The same rules that are metered out to a person when he or she goes wrong should be metered to him as well. If the association does not want court issues they should tell him.

I think that if we don’t see him at the congress we should not be surprised and worried as well because I think that there are poisonous individuals we need to cut off from the association.
