The Constituency Chairman for Tema Wes Hon. Kwasi Poku Bosompem said it’s very unfortunate and saddening the way politicians are treating journalists in recent times.
The habits of inflicting violence on media houses and journalists must stop since it is unacceptable to continue to inflict violence on the media practitioners who are there to help the politicians in their information in public education and national development.
Hence call on the political parties to stamp out their authorities and discipline any member of the party who misconducts himself in the events of any party programme.
He said this on Adekyee Mu Nsem’s morning show on Ahotor FM 92.3 in Accra.
He is of the view that it is time for all political parties to handle all their internal issues very well without compromising on personal and economic interest which he thinks seems to be the underlying factor that is breaking into all this vigilantism and political thuggring recently.
He further stated that there is a need to check and manage our comments on issues on media platforms devoid of unreserved comments that can degenerate into violence and any form of political intimidation.
Hon Kwasi Poku Bosompem, in his opinion, calls on the government and state institutions to quickly respond to the challenges confronting the country with floods, to come out with a master plan, and strengthen all the institutions to respond to all emergencies that may fall on the country through any natural disaster.
In another development, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) national communication team Hon Ben Doe said the incident violence that happened at Odododiodo constituency vetting was very unfortunate and the party has condemned it in all uncertain terms.
He reiterated that taking sides and biases for party followers affect the party and the supporters to rally behind the party in unity and cohesion for the development of the party.
He calls on the national executives to bring all the factions, groups, and followers to solve the problem for all the supporters to be satisfied and bring peace back into the constituency.
Reacting to the Volta River Authority and Kpong spillage which has displaced over 2,500 people and still counting is very unfortunate. He further stated that it is time government to revisit the national plan for the Pwalugu multipurpose dam, which he thinks can serve as a huge water reservoir that can control the spillage from the Bargri dam in the north.
Hon. Ben Doe called on the state institutions to start conserving lands and creating water banks to help protect against the floods that are causing havoc throughout the country.
