The current collapsed building has been reported as a result of heavy torrential rain and has raised its ugly head in the Ghanaian construction space which requires a stakeholder’s interventions to deal with the growing phenomenon.
Between the period in 2000 and 2022, the country recorded more than sixty deaths in collapsed buildings cases, which were under construction.
However, it’s on record that in November 2012 story building of the Melcom commercial shopping center disaster killed at least nine people.
Over the weekend, a three-story building under construction behind Ofankor Market near Asofan caved in with no casualty.
Although it was unclear what caused the collapse, sources blame the recent downpour as the issue, lack of supervision, and enforcement on the part of the building engineers and the Assemblies. But then the question is, is that the primary cause of this disaster in the country?
