(LISTEN): MAHAMA’s E-BLOCK IS NOT A BAD THING -EDUCATION MINISTER
The Ministry of Education has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making E-Blocks functional and fulfilling their intended purpose.
Former President Mahama in the NDC Manifesto for Election 2012 promised to build 200 of the day schools between 2013 and 2016 with the intention to build at least 50 each year within the four-year period.
Out of the 200 schools planned, the ministry has completed 60 with the most recent being Apadwa Senior High School in the Ashanti region.
Concerns raised by opinion and community leaders regarding the underutilization of the facility prompted the ministry to construct dormitories for students, ensuring access for those living far from the school.
Education minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adu-Twum maintains that the government has not abandoned the E-blocks.
