Valentine’s Day, also called St. Valentine’s Day is a holiday (February 14) when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts.
While Valentine’s Day is celebrated in most countries, different cultures have developed their own traditions for this festival.
In some parts of the world, Valentine’s Day is observed as a day for expressing love between family members and friends, rather than that of romantic couples.
Some traditions include leaving lollies and gifts for children and others include acts of appreciation between friends.
Valentine’s Day is most commonly associated with romantic love, with millions of Valentine’s Day cards being exchanged each year. Gifts of flowers or a single red rose are sent with romantic messages to loved ones and couples spend particular time together.
As part of the celebration, Ahotor FM also decided to celebrate Valentine’s day with their listeners by giving them the opportunity to go out with their partners to enjoy the night.
Listeners were asked to send in audio reciting a love poem and at the end of it, the station selected 3 winners from the audio that was sent.
The three winners were Eric Akornu from Gbawe( winner), Joyce Asare from Tema( 1st runner-up), and Mubarak Amidu from Lashibi (2nd runner-up).
They were generously rewarded by going for a dinner with their partners at Manille Foods, which was also hosting a special Val’s show that night dubbed’ Tale Beer Manille’s Val’s Night with musicians like Big Joe Chante, Pzeefire, Spcghost, Sekyerewaa with music and dance at community 2 opposite Mexico school.
And the overall winner after dinner went to Locals inn hotel at Doryumu with special treats.
The management of Ahotor Fm is grateful to its patrons and listeners who made the event successful, especially Locals Inn hotel and Manille Foods.
