The recent computerized placement system has caused many students and parents valuable opportunity to get preferred SHS schools for their wards. The Minsitry has so far indicated that 60% of students have been placed at various SHS with the backlog yet to be cleared.
A situation the Ministry of education has assured the public it would be addressed. Especially with the low confidence and operational disorder which have been engulf by the placement module in 2023.
Thousands of Parents and students gathered at the Teachers Hall ( GNAT) in Accra and raised varied concerns of the placement selection process. The chunk of the students who could not access their preferred schools are undergone self placement.
” This policy was brought and started nicely, now free Education has been brought but parents are not getting anything to do, it will be right if jobs are available for parents to do to be available for catering of their children.” Mr. Adomako lamented !
” Levies are being paid on Free SHS even if you buy food from Restaurants but yet it not well organized .” He said.
He added that” the children are not fed properly not to talk about their well-being.
I think it better one pays for everything concerning their children schooling for quality education not what government is offering now.”
“Even now in Ghana , results and school placements have been released yet some students have not gotten any school ,and are being asked to go for self placement.
What is the government doing about it?” He stressed!
“I think we should have nation plan for our education ,so that no government changes it.
As a country, one aspect or sector we should pay much attention to is our educational system
It is really sad that every government does what is convenient to them especially on our educational system.” Ernest Adomako stated!
He concluded by stating, the country will suffer if the educational system is not being checked and given the needed support.
